On top of the peanut hearing Wednesday was Oregon’s 150th birthday! There is quite a large collection of Oregonians back in DC and they have formed the Oregon State Society. It is basically a social club, they have gatherings during football games and host an annual dinner, amongst other social events. They hosted an Oregon’s birthday reception on the hill last night. The president of OSU, President Ed Ray and the president of Portland State were both in town, as were an assortment of other OSU and PSU folks. The reception probably should have been held in a bigger room but at least it didn’t feel empty and the food and Oregon beer was really good. I met the new Sea Grant director and we visited for 20min or so. He has been in Oregon for all of 3 weeks but said he really liked it already. http://seagrant.oregonstate.edu/

In other news it was 70 degrees Wednesday, I am seriously ready to break out the Bermuda shorts. We had a constituent call and he mentioned that it was snowing in Grants Pass. Snow is fun but it’s definitely about time for some nice spring weather to stick around.
